Cultivating Resilience

Cultivating Resilience is a multi-disciplinary exhibition with a high level of community participation opening at the Boulder Public Library this May, reflecting on the shared idea: Humans can cultivate hope and resilience through the climate crisis. The exhibition is united by air quality concerns— we reflect on the unique abilities of plants to survive, thrive, and even improve the air around them after crises.

AMY HOAGLAND is a 2022 recipient of a Windgate Fellowship for sustainable art presented by Honoring the Future. Amy has completed residencies with the Marpha Foundation in Marpha, Nepal, Casa Lü in Mexico City, Firehouse Art Center in Longmont, CO, and the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve in Matfield Green, Kansas. She received her MFA in Sculpture from CU Boulder in 2022. She has recently had several solo exhibitions: one as a visiting artist for the Kentucky College of Art and Design in 2019 as well as the Firehouse Art Center and Arbor Institute in 2021. In February 2022 she curated an exhibition at Union Hall in Denver. In August 2022 she created a public art installation curated by BMoCA in One Boulder Plaza.

SUMMER KING is a museum professional and community organizer living in Superior, Colorado. She is currently a Museum Associate at the Louisville Historical Museum. She has a degree in Community Art and a MS in Museum and Field Studies, expected 2023. She facilitated three natural history museum pop-up in the park events in collaboration with Boulder Parks in 2021. She developed a natural science workshop series with Latinx students in BVSD Title I schools, which culminated in students curating their own exhibit this May, 2022. It is currently on display at the CU Museum of Natural History with an accompanying 3D digital component.

JULLIAN YOUNG is a multidisciplinary artist based in Denver, Colorado where she is a Visiting Professor at the University of Denver. She works with various tools including 3D modeling and digital fabrication, data visualization, interactive technologies, algorithmic processes, projection mapping, animation and techniques in video art. She has exhibited her work in the US and internationally at the Leon Gallery, VivaTech Paris, the Contemporary and Digital Art Fair, Criatech festival, and presented work with re.riddle Gallery and the LAST/RESORT Club at the 2020 Ars Electronica Festival.
